Social Studies Study guide


The Mayflower was the ship which the Pilgrims sailed on to get to America.

The largest city in the 13 colonies was Philadelphia.

People in a Puritan colony had strict rules.

Roger Williams believed that religion should be separate from the government.

The Puritans founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Settlers in the middle colonies came from Sweden, Germany, and The Netherlands.

New England had poor farmland but good harbors.

The colony of New Netherland was established to trade with the Native Americans, to settle the area and to make the owners of the Dutch West Indies Company rich.

Quakers believed that all people are equal.

New York City was once call New Amsterdam.

The colonists declared their independence from Britain in Philadelphia in 1776.
